Shining a light on UV, with our Commercial Sales Manager; James Price

By platform81

Quite often, Plasma Clean’s James get asked about the functionality and the practicality of UV. Over the course of a week, he will be addressing some of the more common questions posed. As always, if anyone has any further questions please contact him directly.

“UV is a form of electromagnetic radiation. Produced naturally by the sun but can also be produced through artificial methods. UV radiation was discovered in 1801 when the German physicist Johann Wilhelm Ritter observed that invisible rays just beyond the violet end of the visible spectrum darkened silver chloride-soaked paper more quickly than violet light itself. In 1960, the effect of ultraviolet radiation on DNA was established.

Plasma Clean are experts in UV light and its disinfectant / odour control / grease zapping properties. UV is classed over a spectrum like all wavelengths and can be broken down into sub sections. Whilst there are 9 classifications of ultraviolet light, the 3 main sub divisions are UV-A, UV-B & UV-C.

Plasma Clean products work with UV-C. UV-C has many beneficial applications. It has been used for water disinfection, TB control, odour control and many more. Over the coming days I will be introducing some insights into how UV works and how it can be used as a multi-purpose solution.

If you require any further info or would like to discuss more in-depth educatory modules; please contact me directly.”
